A Better Shelter Inc. is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on rescuing, sheltering, and rehabilitating stray, abandoned, and vulnerable animals across Rocky Point and Suffolk County, New York.

Every rescued animal receives comprehensive veterinary care—including spay/neuter procedures, essential vaccinations, worming, health screenings, and flea treatments—before being placed into a loving home.

We believe every animal deserves a safe environment and a second chance at a healthy, happy life. Through community outreach, humane education, and dedicated rescue efforts led by Susan M Hansen, we work daily to control the homeless pet population and match animals with their forever families.
